Micropower Europe's policy conference at EU Sustainable Energy Week 2010
Microgeneration is the low or zero carbon generation of energy in, on or next to buildings. It is the family of customer-facing sustainable energy technologies whose main members are heat pumps, solar photovoltaics, solar thermal, micro-wind, microCHP and biomass heating. Micropower Europe views microgeneration as a logical and beneficial extension to energy efficiency in the built environment.
Microgeneration offers benefits to European citizens, policymakers and indeed to society as a whole. Microgeneration gives citizens a choice of products to contribute to tackling climate change in a way that can be financially rewarding. Policymakers can quickly and cost-effectively help achieve EU energy security and climate change goals by supporting microgeneration. Society benefits from lower carbon emissions, protection from energy price fluctuations and improved awareness.
Micropower Europe is a campaign organisation open to all companies, EU representative bodies and others with an interest in promoting the sustainable energy technologies for the built environment collectively known as microgeneration. Micropower Europe was officially launched on January 1 2009.
